Tae Story and Background P5R
Tae Takemi, referred to as some by the “Plague Doctor” due to her unconventional methods and gothic appearance, is a Confidant of the Death Arcana in Persona 5 Royal. Her story reveals a compassionate doctor fighting against a corrupt medical system.
Tae runs a clinic in Yongen-Jaya, just a stone’s throw from Leblanc. Her clinic has a dubious reputation, often attracting those who can’t afford or are wary of mainstream healthcare. This reputation stems from a past incident where she was accused of malpractice, effectively ruining her career in conventional medicine.

Meeting Joker
Joker first encounters Tae when looking for ways to boost his Guts stat. Tae, intrigued by his “strong stomach” and unique physiology (likely his Persona-user abilities), offers him a deal: he becomes her “guinea pig” for her experimental drugs, and in exchange, she’ll help him develop his Guts and provide beneficial medical supplies. These “clinical trials” are the basis of their Confidant relationship.
As Joker continues to participate, he learns more about her past. The malpractice accusation that ruined her career involved a young girl named Oyamada. Oyamada was suffering from a rare, debilitating illness, and Tae developed an experimental drug that showed promising results.
However, the powerful Pharmaceutical Committee, a corrupt organization, sought to discredit her and seize her research. They tampered with the drug, causing Oyamada’s condition to worsen, and then framed Tae for negligence. This left Oyamada paralyzed and Tae’s reputation in tatters.
Tae's Vindication
To help Tae clear her name and expose the truth, Joker and the Phantom Thieves must venture into Mementos. The target is Toru Yamauchi, a former colleague of Takemi’s who conspired with the Pharmaceutical Committee and was responsible for tampering with Oyamada’s medication. Changing his heart reveals the truth about the conspiracy, exonerating Tae and exposing the Pharmaceutical Committee’s corruption.
With Yamauchi’s confession, Tae’s reputation begins to heal. She is offered a position at a major hospital, and her experimental drug (now untainted) gains recognition as a potential breakthrough for Oyamada’s condition.
At the climax of her Confidant, Tae is faced with a choice: return to the conventional medical world that once scorned her, or continue her independent practice. She ultimately chooses to remain at her humble clinic in Yongen-Jaya, believing that her true calling is to serve those who truly need her help, unburdened by corporate politics. She dedicates herself to furthering her research and providing accessible care.

Conclusion of Tae Confidant Guide Persona 5 Royal
Tae Takemi’s story is a powerful narrative about fighting for justice within a corrupt system, the importance of integrity, and finding one’s true purpose, even if it means forging an unconventional path.
This concludes our Persona 5 Royal Tae Confidant Guide.
