Persona 5 Royal Haru Confidant Guide Empress
In this guide, you’ll find all ranks of your confidant relationship with Haru. Haru is a character that joins the Phantom Thieves gang rather late in the game. She represents the Empress Aracana. Haru Story and Background Persona 5 Royal
Haru is introduced as a third-year student at Shujin Academy and the sheltered heiress to Okumura Foods, a massive restaurant corporation run by her father, Kunikazu Okumura. Her upbringing is one of affluence, but also strict control. She’s gentle, polite, and reserved, often coming across as somewhat naive due to her isolated life.
Her father, Kunikazu Okumura, is a ruthless businessman who sees everything, including his daughter, as a means to further his ambitions. He arranges a marriage for Haru with the abusive and domineering Sugimura, a politically influential figure, solely to advance his own career. This forced betrothal, along with her father’s disregard for his employees’ well-being, deeply distresses Haru, but she feels powerless to resist.

Joining the Phantom Thieves
Haru first encounters the Phantom Thieves when they begin to target her father. She initially tries to help Morgana infiltrate her father’s Palace, which manifests as a space station where employees are treated as disposable robots. During this chaotic and distressing time, Haru awakens to her Persona, Milady, a fierce and elegant figure from “The Three Musketeers” who represents a woman wronged and underestimated. She takes on the codename “Noir” among the Phantom Thieves.
Her awakening is fueled by her desire to stop her father’s cruel exploitation of his employees and break free from the shackles of her arranged marriage. Despite the emotional toll, she joins the Phantom Thieves, hoping to change her father’s heart and save his company from his distorted desires.
Tragic turn of events
However, the change of heart for Kunikazu Okumura takes an unexpected and tragic turn. Shortly after the Phantom Thieves successfully steal his Treasure and he publicly confesses his crimes, he suffers a mental shutdown and dies mysteriously during a live press conference. This devastating event is orchestrated by the true antagonist, Masayoshi Shido, and his accomplice Akechi, who frame the Phantom Thieves for the death.
Haru is profoundly affected, wrestling with grief, anger, and the public’s perception of the Phantom Thieves as murderers. Despite this, she chooses to trust the Phantom Thieves, as she witnessed her father’s true nature in the Metaverse.
With her father gone, she inherits a significant portion of Okumura Foods, but finds herself battling manipulative executives, including her repulsive fiancé, Sugimura, who attempt to wrest control from her. By the end of her Confidant, Haru accepts that she’s not ready to lead a massive corporation and entrusts its temporary management to a more trustworthy individual.
Instead, she embraces her passion for gardening and her dream of opening a small, personal café, signifying her choice to pursue a life aligned with her values rather than inherited obligations.

Conclusion of Haru Confidant Guide P5R
Haru’s story is a compelling journey of overcoming quiet oppression to forge her own path, demonstrating that true strength can emerge from unexpected places and in surprisingly gentle forms.
Her confidant is a must to max out if you want to include her as one of your main party members.
