How to Play Persona 5 The Phantom X When It's Not Released in Your Country

Persona 5 The Phantom X has been released to the world. Unfortunately, the world does not mean all countries in this case. For some countries, it’s unclear why it’s not released, for others, there are explanations. For instance, in Belgium, the game is blocked because the gacha system resembles gambling.

Luckily, in this guide, I’ll show you how to play Persona 5 The Phantom X when it isn’t released in your country and bypass the annoying “this item is currently not available in your region”.

VPN and Persona The Phantom X

(If you already have a VPN, make sure to set it to a country where Persona 5 The Phantom X is available.)

The easiest way to play this game is through a VPN. There are plenty of VPN providers to choose from. In my case, I use PrivadoVPN. The free version allows 10GB of data transfer a month. After installing the VPN software (and connecting through a different country), navigate to https://persona5x.com/. Click on “Play on PC Google Play Games”.

Create a New Google Account

Ideally, you also create a new Google account to avoid problems down the line. Fill in all of the credentials and select the country that you also use in your VPN software. I use the Netherlands, for example. You need to verify with a phone number. You can simply use your own phone number. This does not block anything in the account creation.

After installing Google Play Games, log in with your newly created Google account. You’ll have to create a gamer profile as well. After that, you can start downloading and installing Persona 5 The Phantom X. The primary launcher is small in size and fast to download. Once that is completed, the main download starts, which is around 37 GB. Now you can close your VPN session and continue the download in your normal Windows session.

For me, this was a must as I use the free version of PrivadoVPN, which only allows 10 GB of traffic a month. To play the game, you don’t need the VPN software and can start it from your normal session.
