Kingshot Beginner’s Guide - What to do First
Welcome to our Kingshot beginner’s guide. If you’re just starting out in this base-building and hero-collecting mobile strategy game, we’ll walk you through everything you need to do first. The game can be overwhelming, not to worry, we’ll go over Intel Missions, the Town Center, Chapter Missions, and more. This Kingshot guide will give you the essential tips to get started the right way.
1. Unlock the Second Building Queue
Early on, you will be confronted with the limitations of having only one builder. I’m free to play, but if you are excited about this game and want to spend some money, there is no better way to spend it than buying the extra construction queue.
If you don’t want to spend money, you can temporarily unlock the second queue by spending gems. This is something that you need to do early on. If you want to progress faster, you need to be able to build and upgrade at a fast pace.
2. Complete Chapter Missions
Chapter missions are the way to go for new players. They are quite good as a checklist for building a stronger town, and they offer great rewards as well. This is something that you need to be doing, like your life depends on it.
Just have a look at what you need to do to complete the chapter and go for it. Kingshot has a lot of distractions with all kinds of menus and notifications. Don’t let this result in not completing the chapter missions.

3. Rare Heroes For The Win
At first, focus on the heroes where you have the most star shards. Ascending heroes is an incredible power boost. Rare heroes (R) with 2-star ascendency easily outperform epic heroes (SR) with 1-star ascendency. Fragments for rare heroes are the easiest to come by. Experience points for leveling them up should not be an issue, so make sure to level them up.
Once you leave the early stages of the game, you need to focus more on SR and SRR heroes. With the same ascendency, these will outperform R heroes in most scenarios.
4. Always Upgrade Town Center When You Can
Upgrading the Town Center needs to be a high priority. It unlocks access to new buildings, makes your base stronger, and makes the game much more fun. You also need to do upgrades to your Town Center to be able to upgrade other buildings.
At first, you level this up without breaking a sweat. After a few easy levels, it starts to drain resources, and it takes a lot of time to upgrade. Don’t let this discourage you.

5. Complete Intel Missions
Next up are Inter Missions. You need to do these whenever you can. At first, some of them might not give the best rewards, but even those you need to complete, as you have an intel system that levels up as you finish quests. The higher your intel level, the better the rewards (more gems, stronger troops, more resources,…).
The intel missions are tied to your March Queue. Here, you also need to unlock the second queue as fast as possible. You don’t need to spend money; you can do so by researching it in the academy. To do these missions, you need to have Governor Stamina. This is a resource you spend on missions. You don’t need to mind this, as you should have plenty of it. However, you need the Storehouse (a building in the city) to receive additional Governor Stamina from time to time.
6. Upgrading Heroes
There are three things to keep in mind when it comes to hero power in the early stages (Equipment takes a while to unlock, so it’s not included in the beginner’s tutorial).
- The first one is the actual level of the hero. You, of course, need this as high as possible for the heroes you use.
- Ascension or Starring Up. This is something that you always do when possible. As mentioned earlier, ascendency offers great power boosts.
- Skill Upgrades. Not all heroes are equal when it comes to skills. You need books to upgrade your skills. This is a resource that you struggle with, so choices do matter.
Some heroes have great skills to upgrade for gathering or boosting production in your city. For instance, Seth can greatly increase the iron output from the iron mine.
Other heroes have great combat abilities to upgrade. For instance, Jabel has the Rally Flag ability. This provides a chance to decrease damage taken for all squads by 50%.

7. Use the Backpack
Most people enjoy some good PvP. For this reason, the backpack is worth its weight in gold. Resources in your base/main inventory can be stolen in a raid. However, resources in the backpack are safe from harm and can’t be raided. You can use the resources from the backpack whenever you want, so only use them when you are ready to do some upgrades.
8 Research in the Academy
The Academy is perhaps the most important building in your city. You can research three branches: Growth, Economy, and Battle. Growth and Economy are without a doubt the most important.
- Growth: Here you can research things, such as Tooling Up (enhances construction speed) and Tool Enhancement (enhances the academy’s research speed. All upgrades here are good, and you need to do them early on.
- Economy: The economy branch is all about boosting resource production. Here, you increase the effectiveness of all resource-producing buildings (bread, wood, stone, and iron).
- Battle: This tree increases the power of our combat troops. You increase things as speed, damage, and survivability. Also, a great tree to research, but you should prioritise the other two first.
