Persona 5 Royal Ann Confidant Guide (Lovers Arcana)
The Social Link system returns in Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal, rebranded as Confidants and their Cooperations. By deepening your bond with each Confidant, you’ll unlock bonuses and a special fusion tied to the Arcana (Lovers in this case).
Ann Takamaki is perhaps the most popular character in P5R. She is one of the first Confidants you’ll meet, and her story is a mix of emotional resilience, personal growth, and inner strength. Representing the Lovers Arcana, Ann’s Confidant route explores themes of self-worth, friendship, and what it means to stand up for yourself and others.

Who Is Ann Takamaki?
Ann Takamaki is a half-American, half-Japanese student at Shujin Academy. Due to her mixed heritage and striking appearance, she’s often the target of rumors, gossip, and social isolation. Despite her popularity, Ann feels misunderstood and distant from her peers, often hiding her loneliness behind a bright, outgoing facade.

Her story kicks off as a victim of abuse and manipulation by the school’s volleyball coach, Suguru Kamoshida—a cruel authority figure who uses his position to harass Ann and her best friend, Shiho Suzui.
Ann’s transformation begins when Shiho attempts suicide due to the abuse she suffered under Kamoshida. This traumatic event pushes Ann to confront the injustice head-on. Alongside the Joker and Ryuji, she discovers the Metaverse.
Inside Kamoshida’s Palace, Ann’s rage and guilt manifest in the form of her Persona awakening: Carmen, a bold and fiery symbol of feminine rebellion. She joins the Phantom Thieves and helps bring down Kamoshida, marking the beginning of her journey toward self-empowerment.
As a core member of the Phantom Thieves, Ann plays a vital role in battle with her fire-based Persona and strong magic skills. But outside of combat, building a relationship with her as a Confidant offers valuable in-game perks, especially if you’re focused on support skills, Allure-based fusion bonuses, or pursuing her as a romance option.
This concludes our Persona 5 Royal Ann Confidant Guide tutorial.
